Other "Green" or "Natural/Chemical Free" cleaners use agents that take a long time to biodegrade and do NOT remove biofilm. Most often they create biofilm and contain one of the following:
- Citric Solvent (delaminine) is a borderline "green" product and comes with a safety warning. Citrus products create a protein layer that contributes to the formation of biofilm. The orange and lemon scented cleaners we think of as safe create biofilm. Biofilm is responsible for 80% of disease and infection.
- Oxidizing Agents (peroxide) - kill bacteria (good and bad) and create biofilm
- Vinegar (high pH)- kills bacteria (good and bad) and creates biofilm
- Bleach kills surface germs and viruses but 15 minutes to remove germs and viruses living in biofilm. It can NOT completely remove biofilm. After one hour, the biofilm will return, creating a bacterial imbalance. It is also filled with toxic chemicals.
- Antibacterial and Disinfectants kill all bacteria. We have now seen how overuse of anitbiotics and antibacterial products has impacted our planet. Products that kill bacteria decimate the good bacteria, which directly affects our immune system and our gut health. They also create resistant superbugs that don't die when you try to kill them.
